Dr. John Dillon
Dr. Dillon, a native of Temperance, Michigan, decided on his professional career choice to become a veterinarian in the 7th grade while attending Ladyfield School. His exposure to veterinarians as a child growing up on a thoroughbred horse farm helped to form his passion for veterinary medicine. As his parents were both involved in the medical field, this was a natural career path … it just involved a different kind of patient!
He attended Toledo St. Francis de Sales High School, and later graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1991. Upon entering veterinary school at University College Dublin, Ireland, and later Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Dillon received a well rounded education in both small and large animal medicine and surgery. While in his senior clinical year, he received the Dupont Radiology Award for Excellence In Interpretation. After graduating in 1996, he joined a mixed animal practice where he continued to hone his skills in diagnostic imaging through ultrasound and small animal orthopedics.
In October of 1998, Dr. Dillon opened his practice, St. Francis Veterinary Hospital in Sylvania, Ohio. Since then he has provided medical and surgical treatment for dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, rats, African hedge hogs, goats and sheep. He also has provided an ambulatory service for horses as well.
His philosophical approach to the care and well being of all animals is reflective of the teachings of St. Francis of Assisi who cared for all of God’s creation with kindness and compassion.
